Welcome to the Strawberry Patch Pre-School and Nursery

The strawberry patch nursery is built on an old strawberry patch farm, hence its name. You can find us in a very secluded part of a small village ‘Hempstead’ just outside the town of Holt . We operate from a purpose built log cabin style building, extended in 2005, which is located on a retired family farm, where the children get first hand experiences with the farming outdoor environment.

The Strawberry Patch has been running since 2003, and has gone from strength to strength. The building has been specially built alongside with Ofsted regulations to cover every childcare standard and regulation. We have a strong experienced team of staff, who hold a recognised qualification in childcare.

We take children from 3 months to five years and in the holidays will take siblings up to the age of eight. The nursery has three rooms, a baby room from three months to two years and the main room which has the age’s two to five.

We have several outdoor areas that are all securely fenced in, the patio with the rabbits, the grass area with the large sand pit, water Shute and balancing apparatus and the paddock area with the large climbing frame and mound.

Our outdoor area incorporates a large vegetable patch, a paddock area with wooden climbing equipment, an orchard, sensory garden and forest schools area. We use the crops grown in the vegetable patch for our meals and snacks; we collect apples from the orchard and have a market style stall for our excess produce.

In the surrounding area we have access to horses, chickens and a vegetable patch.  There are many nature walks, including a pathway to Baconsthorpe castle where we are busy blackberry picking on the way in the summer months.  The surrounding fields grow crops such as peas which the children love to pick and watch the tractors harvest.

We provide the children with balanced, healthy cooked meals and snacks by our friendly cook.

We are open from 8am to 6pm and run all year round, with one week off at Christmas and the bank holidays, you will not be charged when the nursery is closed.

Our aim is to create a warm and caring family environment with lots of fun and education thrown in.

Please feel free to call and make an appointment to come and see us.
