The Transitional Room

Transitional Room

The Strawberry Patch Nursery and Pre-School has a wonderful Transitional Room which is a lovely purpose built room for children from around 2 years to between 21/2 and 3 years of age to build on their independent life skills and key early years development, whilst still being very much a calm, nurturing space.

The Transitional Room provides a brilliant area for children coming from the Baby Room to grow in confidence in preparation to move confidently from the Transitional Room through to the Main Room when they are ready.

This room provides continued loving care in a nurturing environment where the children can continue to grow and develop. Working on their independent life skills to become confident individuals ready to move through to the main room.

The emphasis in this room is very much learning through play, introducing concepts to enhance and encourage the children’s early years skills including, communication skills and personal development. This is achieved through lots of story times, messy play, music and rhyme times, outdoor exploration and free play sessions.

Children move through to the Transitional Room around the age of 2, very much dependent upon when the children are ready. The children then move through from the Transitional Room to the Main Room when they are between 21/2 – 3 years of age, again very much dependent upon when they are ready.

Our Transitional Room Staff are:

  • Kirsty – Transitional room leader
  • Katie – Early years practitioner

We always work on a high ratio with the Manager & Day Manager as supernumerary.

Ratio is 4 children to 1 adult.

Most of the staff have been with us for many years, some since we opened in 2003. We are also proud to have many that have joined us as students and stayed with us, progressing within the nursery. We are lucky to not have a high turnover in staff.
