The Baby Room
The Baby room here at The Strawberry Patch Nursery and Pre-School cares for children ranging from 9 months to around 2 years in a calm, caring and nurturing environment that is fully set up to help the children to feel settled with lots of different spaces for them to explore, resources to engage with and activities to engage in.
The room has a cosy corner for cuddles, sensory play and restful periods, a role play area for the children to engage with the resources and each other, tuff trays for sensory and messy play (at a height that enables them to join in safely), a baby gym to help develop their muscles and strength and a peaceful sleep room to enable the children to sleep in a calm, tranquil environment and to separate sleep and play spaces.
A loving, caring and engaging environment
The room’s focus is to provide a loving, caring and engaging environment for our youngest Strawberry Patch family members.
Our baby room staff are professionals and excel at working with parents/carers to provide the children with a routine in nursery that is reflective of their routine at home and to provide parents/carers with the peace of mind that their children are in excellent hands during their time with us.
There is lots of story times, music times, messy play, role play and carefully planned activities to suit all of our baby room children. The baby room staff also love to be outside, whether on the baby room veranda or in the garden or out on walks around the beautiful surroundings of the nursery.
When the children are confident enough and ready to, they make their transition into the Transitional Room – but not until they are ready.
The Sleep Room
We have an open plan room which is set up as a quiet sleeping area with cots and prams. This provides the children with a calm, peaceful environment to nap, separating play and sleep spaces and helping to provide a familiarity to home sleep times. The children can also sleep outside, weather permitting.
Our staff in the baby room room always aim to provide the loving eye that all individuals should unconditionally receive to be able to play and sleep, knowing all entrusted care and diligence is watching over them.
We have a permanent canopy over the decked area from the baby room and we are always developing our garden area, with the help from the children of course!

- Evie– Apprentice
We always work on a high ratio with the Manager & Day manager as Supernumerary.
Ratio is 3 Children to 1 Adult
Most of the staff have been with us since we opened back in 2003, or have joined us as students and stayed on when qualifying. We are lucky not to have a high turnover in staff.
